Late Nights
And he made me smile
When I shed a tear
Saying baby your my heart
So come near.
Was that shoulder to cry on
When nothing in the world made sense.
Distance, laughter , a snicker.
She was the barer of bad news
And he was the recepor of mixed emotions.
A single tear made him sound
As it trickled down my very lonsesome face.
Fear.

The Letter Better Left Unsent
The most valuable relationship a young woman will have in a time of need is the relationship with her mother. Without a mother, in my opinion, things will be different. Well, I can speak upon that myself, without my mother I did become a different young lady. Her physical presence was there but the mental aspect of the bond we were supposed to share was absent. On the outside I had a hard shell, I did not care about anyone’s feelings beside my own. On the inside, I was a lost soul, dying and yearning for the love of my mother. I began to give up and started failing in school. I went from A’s to D’s in 3 weeks. Then, reality hit me… I wasn’t graduating. This couldn’t be, but then I remembered something, something that I should not have forgotten. With or without the love I want from my mom I have to move on. I always need to prove myself to her so this was my chance. Try harder and move on, and that’s what I did. I graduated with honors…and it wasn’t enough. And, at that very moment, I felt and knew that without my mother I was a different young lady. I knew that I would continue to persevere and strive for nothing but the best because the absence of my mother’s love made me a stronger woman than I ever thought I could be.

Hashtag Side Chick
“Text me when you’re free”
“Let the phone ring twice”
“Make sure no one sees you when you’re coming in at night”
You never love her but you always need her
You never kiss her but you always please her
Public displays of affection are lost in the crowd
Let that chick know its always in and its out
She said she caught feelings,
You smile and say “That’s cute”
As she gazes into your eyes, your main chick texts you
The side chick knows her role
Never argues or fights
But deep down inside she’s dying,
Dying to say she loves you will all her might
One Life, Take Your Time
It feels like just yesterday I was packing up all of my stuff to come here.
It was like a family road trip, 2 cars and a Jeep to bring my roommate and I upstate, the longest 5 hours of my life. But I can’t really recall a time where I was more excited.
Watching Brooklyn trail behind the clouds as we drove over the bridges and through the trees to Oswego, my blood pumped with anticipation – college…this is it! I was so sure I was going to live the life of the teens I watched on TV. But, when our tires ran across the streets of Oswego, I wanted to go right back to Brooklyn. The sight was unwelcoming. From the sidewalks to the stores, I was sure they placed my beloved college in the middle of a forgotten town. Until we pulled up to the front of the school, and I saw how green the grass was, the resident buildings, people jogging and students moving in. It was almost like the school was in its own little bubble, and I don’t know but somehow I knew we were going to be okay. I would have never imagined falling for the likes of this town, but I did and hard. Oswego has introduced me to not only my future, but also everything in between. Read the rest of this entry
Cheating Crisis
We got the single men, the married ones, and the players, but they all seem to have one thing in common – they’re cheaters. There have been debates on the definition of cheating, but from a woman’s perspective, cheating consists of any sexual contact with another woman including kissing and flirting. Brazen Pleasure
After nine long months of carrying this life within her, a mother had finally given birth. A new child of the village for everyone to raise and teach the ways of their people.
The mother bundled him in clothes and held him close to her breast gracing the child with her supple skin. Refusing to let demons or any other evils that would want to steal his innocence.
The father was a cumbersome man with wisdom spilling from his essence. Dozens flocked see the child visiting his nursery, seeing a future leader in their prescence. The commosition drew the attention of a wandering travler. His garments alien to the people of the village, but the welcoming view he greeted them with dissolved any suspicion. He walked with others into the dwelling of the new born and was immediately drawn to the environment of the room. Over one side was a book of poems the book worn and old the leather hanging on for dear life, while on the opposite side was a spear decorated at the tip with an array of vibrant feathers and cultural jewels. Finally
I haven’t done this in awhile.
I haven’t soaked in the midnight and gave birth to its
Orgasmic affection through my words.
But darling I’d create it all for you;
If not in one full swoop I’d hold you
To my chest,
Let your ear fall upon my heartbeats;
Flesh too thin to mask this burning and beating love
I can’t conceal much longer.
Forgive me for being born with such need for affection
and the honesty in knowing I must give it.
That I cannot help but lay my head in the crook of your neck right below your chin and feel the sensation ride along my temple. Read the rest of this entry
The Single Mother
Can you count everything your mom has ever done for you?
I bet you can’t even remember all of it because that’s just how much she’s actually done. From the day she pushed you out, until the day she passes, the work of a mother is never done, even when their child moves out of the house. The career of being a mother is hard enough, now imagine a woman doing it all by herself.
Stand Up, Stand Out!
In his article “Grasping the Male Perspective”, writer Khalil Waldron discusses the misconceptions women “seem” to have when it comes to what a man looks for in a woman. Waldron mentions there are only two types of women: the hit it and quit it type of girl and then there’s the girl that makes a man weak in the knees, worthy of his time and interest. Now these weren’t his words exactly, but you get the point right?
